All of
these vehicles were equipped with NON PI engines. This was Fords first
attempt at the SOHC motor and the results did not produce enough HP
to satisfy the public, that is why Ford engineered the PI heads &
manifold to replace the NON PI SOHC in 1999. This change increased
the GT engine by over 60 rwhp.
| Pre 99 heads had small ports
& valves and large round 52cc chambers which did not “burn”
well. Camshafts in these heads were only .460’’ lift and also short
spring heights, you cannot install high lift cams in these heads.
No improved intake manifolds exist for these heads, considering
all these facts your money is best spent on our PI head swap kit. |
